Seema Jain’s Profile

 I am  currently  Associate Professor & Head Dept of English & Dean Academics at Kanya MahaVidyalaya Jalandhar. I feel enriched by an experience of 38 years’ of teaching PG and UG classes. My areas of academic interest include English Phonetics and Phonology, Indian Writing in English, Literary Theory and Contemporary British Fiction.

I am a Life Member of the Shakespeare Association of India; Chairperson, Board of Studies, Dept of English, Kanya MahaVidyalaya Jalandhar (Autonomous Heritage Institution), have been a Member of the Board of Studies and Language Faculty   GNDU, besides having been on the panel of paper setters/examiners for institutions  at college and university level.My publications include edited Books on the subjects of Women Empowerment and Higher Education and Cross Cultural Nuances. I have published Research Papers in International and National Journals, and have been Chief Editor of the College Magazine. I have also presented a large no. of papers at International and National Seminars and Conferences.
I have a keen interest and passion for Creative writing and have authored some Books of poems: An Apology to my Father (English Poems),Mom ke Pankh ( Hindi Poems) and Dhoop Chhanv ( Hindi Poems). My Hindi and English poems and Short Stories have been widely published in magazines, journals and newspapers of repute. Some of my poems have been translated into other regional languages. My poems  have also been anthologized among Contemporary Women Poetesses of Punjab. I have recited English and Hindi poems during the World Poetry Festival in Ahemadabad with poets from14 countries  and from all over India and have  presented poems on TV and radio umpteen times with reputed poets of the region. I was honoured with an Award by the Purvottar Hindi Academy for contribution to the field of Education, Literature and Creative Writing.

I have worked as the Co-ordinator/ Convener of many International Conferences and a UGC Sponsored National Seminar on ELT.I have been founding Dean of KMV School of Communications which comprised foreign languages and English Speaking Proficiency courses.
I have acted as  Chairperson for International Conferences and National Seminars, have been Organizing Secretary for ‘The Shakespeare Festival’ at KMV, Resource person for many batches of Personality Development, Foundation program and moral education programs and have been Co-ordinator of  many Panel Discussions on various social issues.Besides, I have held multiple academic and administrative responsibilities and have been on various committees in the college.
Some of my strengths are commitment and dedication to work, ability to make in the best possible efforts for a job undertaken, a positive approach and a touch of humanity in all situations in life as well as in academic concerns.
