Wen-chi Vivian Wu, who received her doctorate in Education from the University of South Dakota in 2006, is an associate professor in the Department of English Language, and director of the CALL R & D Center at Providence University in Taiwan. As an experienced English-as-a-foreign-language (EFL) instructor, she teaches a variety of English-related courses including writing, conversation, listening and speaking, and studies in approaches to teaching listening and speaking, as well as academically oriented courses at the graduate level, such as research methodology and application of technology in classroom instruction.

 She has published extensively since 2006, including 15 high-quality peer-reviewed journals locally and abroad (including five papers in journals indexed by SSCI) and has made 30 international conference presentations. Her recent research areas include application of technology in instruction, computer-assisted language learning (CALL), mobile learning, teaching assistant robots, English for Specific Purposes, learner motivation for English as a global language, and learner-centered instruction. Over the past few years, she has integrated international experiences into her conversation and writing courses linking her students with college students and university professors in America.

 In addition to her academic research endeavors, she has also committed herself to academic services with an essential role in diverse international academic journals and associations. For example, she is on the executive review board of the Journal of Education Technology and Society (SSCI), and the Journal of Education and Learning. She is an officer of the Taiwan ESP Association. She was a guest editor for the Asian EFL Journal and is currently a guest editor of the CALL Journal as well as a frequent reviewer for more than ten prestigious international journals. She has also organized two successful prestigious international conferences, the 15th International CALL Research Conference and the 7th International Conference of the Asian EFL Journal, held respectively in May 2012 and April 2010, as well as several academic workshops.
